From downtown Newnan, mountain bikers have their choice of more than 30 miles of singletrack at Brown’s Mill, Cochran Mill and Moore’s Bridge parks. In addition to these great trails, the hottest cycling spot in the area is Newnan’s C Jay Smith Park. The park is a combined pump track and skate park and has become a popular destination for locals and pump track enthusiasts in the Atlanta area.
The pump track and skate park measures 34000 square feet of fun and is the largest facility of its kind in Georgia. The park also features a pavilion, playground, splash pad and is connected to downtown Newnan by the LINC Greenway. The Greenway stretches 5 miles in length and connects downtown Newnan with the east side of town that includes the Ashley Park shopping district, and a number of hotels and restaurants. The park is a great spot for families to hang out, picnic, and ride scooters, bicycles, and skate boards.
Combine the mountain bike opportunities with C Jay Smith Park and you’ll find something to offer the entire cycling family. Add a friendly downtown with tons of restaurants and a great shopping and you’ve got a weekend road trip with something to offer everyone. C Jay Park does get crowded on the weekends. The park opens at sunrise and the lights stay on until 10 pm. We recommend taking the kids on Saturday or Sunday mornings and then riding or walking into downtown Newnan for lunch.
